Neil Sharma is an International Emmy Award–winning director based in Sydney, with a knack for telling stories that stick with you.

He’s been lucky enough to learn from some of the best, including Oscar winner Taika Waititi and acclaimed director Jeffrey Walker. His directing credits span everything from the International Emmy and AACTA–winning reboot of Heartbreak High (Fremantle Media / Netflix), to Strife Season 2 (Binge / Made Up Stories), the gripping psychological drama Critical Incident (STAN), the heartfelt dramedy Mother and Son (Wooden Horse / ABC), and the SBS Digital Original Series Appetite, which had it’s world premiere at the 2023 CANNESERIES Festival — the only Australian project in competition. Along the way, his work has earned nominations for two ADG Awards, an AACTA and a Rose d’Or.

Before stepping behind the director’s chair, Neil cut his teeth as an assistant director on blockbusters like Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Mad Max: Furiosa, The Fall Guy and Mortal Kombat.

Neil’s style has a rhythm all its own — a musicality that runs through his work — as he explores the human experience with a fresh, distinctive point of view. Combined with years of hands-on set experience and invaluable mentorships, he’s one of those rare filmmakers who can dream big and deliver, no matter the scale or genre of the project.
